Fiat Panda Cross around Africa 2007

Fiat Auto Poland & travellers: Jola Czupik, Dominik Stoklosa - autopodroznicy.com with sponsors are planning the expedition around Africa, by Fiat Panda Cross.

The route we set is interesting and diversified. Across Morocco, the sands of Mauretania, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Angola, Namibia we are going to reach the Republic of South Africa. We are planning to stay longer in Johannesburg, the city called “the world capital of crime”. The bestselling book here is a manual giving clues how to avoid being mugged in the streets. Cape Town is intended to be the half point of the excursion. The city located in the other part of the Black Continent has often been the finishing line of one of the most difficult cross-country raids.

From this point on, through Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, where over 60% of the population makes a living with one dollar a day. In Tanzania we are going to peep on lions and antelopes, make friends with the local people, and admire the beauty of safari. Further on, we are heading across Sudan to Egyptian pyramids, and to the Petra Mountain in Jordan. And from here there is only one step further to Asia and Europe.
Thousands of kilometres in the innocent-looking car of very simple but solid construction, which is for many of us nothing more than a city car. Such journeys usually bring to our minds the image of a heavy Land Rover or Toyota Land Cruiser, filled up with luggage, and equipped with hoist, tents and GPS. However, we are going to travel by this car, as it provides us more mobility, and, as a result, will let us arrive to places difficult to reach for the others.
